Reviews

This book is great for beginners. It is especially written for novice users, and it includes software. If you're wanting to get started in GIS, this book is extremely helpful and detailed. It explains almost every single keyboard move that you would make. You can learn on your own and at your own pace, regardless of your computer literacy. This book is 592 pages of ArcGIS tutorials. If you like tutorials, then this is the book for you. These tutorials will walk you through anything you would ever want to do with ArcGIS, in painful detail. I was new to ArcGIS before reading this book, it's a complex and powerful program.

my backgroung is in the mechanical field (UniGraphics and AutoCAD). Our department staf has been reduced due to the econemy so our CAD group started picking up the GIS work. It takes a bit of time to grasp the consept and the interface of GIS.This manual has been a grate tool to help me find out some of tricks to make learning this program easier. The book is geared for most people who have a working knowlage of this program. It is very well illustrated and is easy to follow for the beginer or even mid-level users.
