How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better (Paperback)

How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better (Paperback)

Authors Charla Krupp

>> more details..

Product Description
Krupp, style expert for the Today Show and former beauty director for Glamour, offers easy-to-follow, tried-and-true fashion advice for women well beyond their 20s. Presented in eye-catching, highly skimmable, fashion-magazine style, here's how to trade in the things that scream old lady (simply OL in the book) for a look that's younger and hipper (Y&H). Krupp is straightforward about the physical shortcomings of older age. Aptly (and sometimes rather brutally) she steers readers away from these OL pitfalls. She is quick to point out that fashion that works on 20-somethings looks ridiculous on older women (i.e., bare midriffs, go-go boots and tattoos). As much about what to do as what not to do, some of the tips are as easy as wearing pink lipstick, a bra that fits properly and hair with bangs. Others take more thought, time and money—like Botox shots, chemical peels and hair extensions. Whether high or low maintenance about their beauty routine, women of a certain age who want to compete in our youth-obsessed culture will treat this easy read with interest.

Reviews How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better (Paperback)

I learned a lot about my figure type and what things do and do not look good on my personal type of figure.
It is so unfortunate i did not read this book years ago as i would have prevented making a lot of buying mistakes which translates to 'wasted a lot of money' on things that i thought looked good but when i wore them they just didn't look/feel right.

without this information in this book it can take years to learn by trial and error what type of neckline looks best or what makes us look taller or look more balanced.
I highly recommend it.

Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood: Stories and Recipes to Share with Family and Friends (Hardcover)

Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood: Stories and Recipes to Share with Family and Friends (Hardcover)

Authors Trisha Yearwood

>> more details..

Product Description
Singer Trisha Yearwood has found another way to reach her audience—with this follow-up to her successful Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen, she serves up more homey, Southern-inflected fare from her country music kitchen. And this newest is every pinch of salt the sequel—from the foreword by her husband, Garth Brooks, and her intimate personal anecdotes to the recipes donated by family and friends (her grandmother's strawberry cake; Brooks's mother's cabbage rolls, her mama's homemade waffles). Yearwood jumps off with some helpful hints, such as the importance of fresh-shredded cheese and how to use scissors to release a stubborn piecrust. The meat of the book is rib-sticking classics for both special occasions and weeknights, like sweet potato pudding, jalapeño hushpuppies, and a Lowcountry boil. Yearwood's ingredients are not for the faint of heart or high of cholesterol (Garth's Breakfast Bowl, for example is a mix of eggs, frozen tater tots, sausage, bacon, and packaged cheese and garlic tortellini). But Yearwood's enthusiasm and warmth come through, particularly in the handwritten notes at the bottom of the pages. Photos. (Apr.)

Along with everyone else, I watched the View. Trisha was also on Good Morning America. Although I was working while it was on, I saw enough to know I had to order it. Whoopi, who doesn't usually get enthused about too much, convinced me that this was good stuff! Can't wait to get this! Just to be on the safe side, I ordered the first book as well.

Reviews United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination (Paperback)

This book gives you all the info you need to know to be successful on the exam. I was a bit hesitant to buy it since it wasn't backed by a larger company (Princeton Review, Barron's), but I don't regret my purchase.

To those looking for the answers: if you read the intro, it talks about how one can purchase an answer key. It has to be through your teacher. However, if you search for the answers on Google, they will also come up.

Purchase this book! It is a great supplement to the American Pageant textbook, which I myself do not like. Unlike the American Pageant, this book is very straightforward and to the point without any stupid analogies and lame jokes.

Product Description
This is the classic cookbook, in its entirety—all 524 recipes.
it leads the cook infallibly from the buying and handling of raw ingredients, through each essential step of a recipe, to the final creation of a delicate confection;

• it breaks down the classic cuisine into a logical sequence of themes and variations rather than presenting an endless and diffuse catalogue of recipes; the focus is on key recipes that form the backbone of French cookery and lend themselves to an infinite number of elaborations—bound to increase anyone’s culinary repertoire;

• it adapts classical techniques, wherever possible, to modern American conveniences;

• it shows Americans how to buy products, from any supermarket in the United States, that reproduce the exact taste and texture of the French ingredients, for example, equivalent meat cuts, the right beans for a cassoulet, or the appropriate fish and seafood for a bouillabaisse;

• it offers suggestions for just the right accompaniment to each dish, including proper wines. Since there has never been a book as instructive and as workable as Mastering the Art of French Cooking, the techniques learned here can be applied to recipes in all other French cookbooks, making them infinitely more usable. In compiling the secrets of famous cordons bleus, the authors have produced a magnificent volume that is sure to find the place of honor in every kitchen in America. Bon appétit!

The recipes in this book are easy to follow- sometimes you have to go back and forth when referred to a different page number for a recipe or cooking tip but worth it as what a great learning experience in food and cooking tips. I love recipes that go back to the original- good ingredients make an incredible dish that is enjoyable to eat.

Reviews Barron's AP English Literature and Composition, 3rd Edition (Paperback)

'd say Barron's was better than Cliff's, at least that was what my AP English teacher said, in that there are more practice tests in Barron. I didn't use it a lot at all, but what I did use of it prepared me well for the test.
